Weather:  North to Northeast winds prevail October to March, West winds April to September with frequent fog July to December, often with visibility under 1/2 mile.  September can be especially foggy.  June gloom also known as the marine layer produces early morning clouds and afternoon sun May through August.  Storm warnings are shown at the Harbormaster's office.  Typical high temperatures are 75 degrees Fahrenheit in the summer, 75 in the fall, 65 in the winter and 70 in the spring.  The city averages over 320 days of sunshine per year.  Ocean water temperatures range from 55 degrees Fahrenheit in the winter up to 70 in the summer.   Humidity tends to be fairly high in the mornings, around 80%, dropping off to around 65% in the afternoons. January and February are the rainiest months, so come prepared just in case. If you are visiting in May, June or July, watch out for the 'marine layer', a cloudy overcast, almost fog-like cloud which may affect the beach and first mile or so of the coastal strip, especially in the mornings.
