The thing about a boat
is that it usually takes up space in the water to float it and if it is
bigger than the day sailor that is trailered to the launching ramp, you
are going to need a place to berth it. (Often times, boat ownership is
akin to birthing something, but here we mean the hole in the water that
the boat occupies). One of the important things to remember when looking
for a place to park the boat while you attend to mundane work-a-days is
the atmosphere (i.e., the people) that operate the marina and that occupy
the marina. This is your home away from home, the place you come to relax,
putter and have a good time, and after a good time at sea, want to come
back to. Dana Point has three marinas, to serve boaters needs. Slips
range from 20 to approximately 85 feet.
