Repairing fiberglass can be pretty tricky, even if you are doing
just gel coat repairs. Like a good varnish job it will take a few days
to do it right. First you must prepare the damaged area, then apply the
gel coat with the proper amount of hardener added to it, so it does not
kick off to fast not take to long, to harden, and oh yes, color match is
most important even on white hulls. After the gel coat is given time to
harden, then the time consuming work of sanding, sanding and more sanding,
starting with 300 grit and finishing with 2000 grit. Finally the final
wax and buff. If done correctly, which Tony does, you will not be able
to tell where the original damage was.
