"Hassle" sees the light of day

There is very little to compare to the feeling in your gut as your boat  (baby) is pulled from the water and is hanging there on the sling, halfway over the water, halfway over that hard concrete bulwark and the relief as she is gently lowered onto a cradle.  Let the good times begin, your boat is out for a bottom job, new thru-hulls, or she is going to get repaired, so she can float again and take to the bounding seas.  Your choice of shipyards can and will either make this a "pleasant" experience or a "nightmare from hell".  Choose wisely, talk alot, get estimates in writing and check out if the guys used to be in auto body work!  Some yards will even let you work on your boat yourself, we have great memories of a bottom sanding/painting weekend (party?) now that we've gotten the blue out of our ears!
